Cheetos Chicken Fries: An Extra Crunchy Surprise
Fast food should not be your first thought when meal times roll around. But, it is A-okay to treat yourself every once in a while.
That was exactly what went through my mind the other night after a doctor’s appointment that ran later than expected. I needed to eat something, anything would’ve sufficed.
This was when my mind flashed back to only the night before. My roommate and I had called it a night much later than we had meant to.
Now, I like to fall asleep to cartoons. Specifically speaking, I will put on Nickelodeon’s The Splat which plays ’90s Nicktoons all night. This especially helps me drift off to sleep peacefully. So, once the sleep timer was set, my roomie and I made jokes about the cliches across ’90s cartoons. We kept joking until we were interrupted by a loud commercial.
It was a Burger King commercial that was advertising Cheetos Chicken Fries. Burger King has a regular menu item of chicken fries, but only recently did they acquire the Cheetos version. This variation of the chicken fries meal is much like the original, but the chicken fries are breaded with crushed Cheetos.
I forced myself to sit up in my bed to see what the fuss was about when my roommate, who was still sitting up in her bed, turned to face me and commented on how the Cheetos Chicken Fries looked interesting. I replied to her with a sleepy mumble about how I would love to try them before laying back down and finally closing my eyes.
Flashing back to reality, here was my chance to try what looked like an absolute ‘fast food masterpiece’ if there was such a thing.
Before even diving into my Cheetos Chicken Fries, I had to note how cool looking the box was. It was based around Chester The Cheetah, the Cheetos mascot. The thought into the look of the box only added to my excitement about trying the fries.
It was finally time to give these fries a try. After my first bite, it was clear that the Cheetos Chicken Fries had a serious crunch-factor. The chicken fries themselves were fresh and the Cheetos on the chicken fries as a breading were lovely; that extra crunchy texture was definitely pleasant and flavorful.
The crunch on the Cheetos Chicken Fries alone was enough for me and I would’ve eaten them plain, but adding my favorite Burger King sauce (sweet and sour) only heightened the experience. The tangy and savory notes of sweet and sour sauce meshed perfectly with the extra crunch on my chicken fries.
I’d rate Burger King’s newest menu item a 10 out of 10 and I would order it again, hands down. But, keep in mind that Cheetos Chicken Fries are only available for a limited time.
